The Northern Illinois University shooting was a school shooting that took place on February 14, 2008, during which Steven Kazmierczak shot multiple people on the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, United States, killing five and injuring twenty-one, before committing suicide.
The incident happened at the campus’s Cole Hall at approximately 3:05 p.m. local time. The school placed the campus on lockdown; students and teachers were advised to head to a secure location, take cover, and avoid the scene and all buildings in the vicinity of the area. Six people died in the incident, including the perpetrator, making it the fourth-deadliest university shooting in United States history.
Catalina Garcia, Juliana Gehant, Ryanne Mace, and shooter Steven Kazmierczak were declared dead on the scene at Cole Hall, while Daniel Parmenter was pronounced dead shortly after arrival to Kishwaukee Hospital at 4:00 p.m. Gayle Dubowski was flown to the nearest trauma center, St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival there at 4:14 p.m.

On March 22nd 2008 Beginning at 6pm, Twisted Wish Productions (now known as “Spook Show Entertainment”) In association with Otto’s Nightclub in Dekalb, presented “Huskie Healing”. This was a benefit concert for those effected by the February 14th tragedy at NIU.
All profits from admission, shirts and the auctions went to NIU’s February 14 Student Scholarship Fund
The producers filled both the Mainroom and the Underground venue with music, entertainment, people and of course memories.
Performers included: The Biltmores, Bad Medicine, and Broken Vegas in the Mainroom, with Demetra Dokos, Matt Hayes and Mer performing in the Underground.
Below are some videos from that event courtesy of FASTF!LMS & Spook Show Entertainment.

This one is very short but also fun to watch, it is not scary, it was meant to be humorous. There is a places were it could use improvement. There is few punchlines that need a little either with timing or execution, There is clearly no acting but it is more of a pitch and the duo of Chip and Bernie are the front runners. I wont spoil it so go ahead and give it a go. A good job to Pasquale Murena and to the fellas who play Chip and Bernie.

ARI LEHMAN is the actor/singer who has the unique honor of having played the role of the First Jason Voorhees in the Paramount Classic Horror Film “Friday the 13th” (1980). The original “Boy In The Lake” himself, Ari played a crucial role in the film’s famous final scene, in which he suddenly emerges from the icy waters of Crystal Lake. Working with Special Effects Master Tom Savini at an early age gave Ari a deep appreciation for the Horror Greats including Lon Chaney, Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff and Vincent Price. Ari currently records and tours the US and Europe with his Horror Rock Band, FIRSTJASON.
A native New Yorker, Ari grew up in Westport, CT, where he trained in Classical music and Jazz Piano. Recognized at an early age for his musical abilities, Ari was presented with an All-State Award for Excellence in Jazz Piano and a generous scholarship to Berklee School of Music by the famous jazz educator, Dr. Billy Taylor.
Also actively engaged in performance and theatre, Ari heard about an audition being held in Westport, for a new movie, “Manny’s Orphan’s”, about a group of inner-city orphans who play Soccer, directed by Sean S. Cunnngham. Ari snuck into the audition and landed the 80-line role of “Roger”, a pre-pubecent comic character who is obsessed with girls. This role led to Ari getting the call to play Jason Voorhees in “Friday the 13th” from Sean S. Cunningham himself, who famously asked him “Can you swim?”, Ari replied “Yes!” and the rest is Horror History.
After the release of “Friday the 13th”, Ari returned to New York City where he studied Jazz Piano in its breeding ground with the great Joanne Brackeen and enrolled in NYU studying Big Band Orchestration and Jazz Piano with recognized Masters Jim McNeely and Vladmir Shafranov. Interestingly, Ari’s career led him to become a prominent touring Keyboardist for some of the top names in Reggae and African music, with whom he toured throught the US, Europe and West Africa, working for Bob Marley’s own Tuff Gong Records and Interscope Records.
As a seasoned recording artist and professional musician, Ari went on to receive acclaim with his own World Rock and Reggae band, when, upon moving to Chicago in late 2002, he was contacted by Horror fans who eagerly invited him to attend an East Coast Horror Convention. In response to their enthusiasm, Ari became a regular on the Horror Convention Circuit, and immediately saw a great opportunity to give Jason Voorhees a musical voice on the Punk and Metal scene. Ari proceeded to draw upon his 20 years’ experience as a professional musician and recording artist and created FIRSTJASON specifically for Horror Fans, especially the fans of Jason Voorhees and “Friday the 13th”.
FIRSTJASON has performed in Punk/Metal clubs, Film Festivals, and Horror Conventions throughout the United States. The engaging showmanship and superior musicianship have consistently received enthusiastic response and have developed a strong following. Here is an exerpt from a recent review of a show on their 11-city Midwest tour in the Early Spring of 2009:
“Like young Jason rising from the deep to take his prey, First Jason caught me by surprise. Lehman didn’t just play the keytar, he melted that motherfucker. He didn’t just sing songs about Jason, he sang them with a passion and a power that was above and beyond what the subject matter called for. When, toward the end of the set, he threw a Jason mask my way, I put it on and started banging my head, smiling like a maniac. I was glad I stuck around.”
(MP Johnson – FREAK TENSION MAGAZINE)
FIRSTJASON has performed at HORRORHOUND WEEKEND, FANGORIA WEEKEND OF HORRORS, ROCK AND SHOCK, TEXAS FEAR FEST, and FLASHBACK WEEKEND Horror Conventions, as well as THE MILWAUKEE METAL MASSACRE and many of the top Punk/Metal venues throughout the MidWest. ARI LEHMAN has appeared in E!, Entertainment Weekly, Blender Magazine, Chicago Reader, The Chicago-Sun Times, Illinois Entertainer, Denver CBS4-TV News, and Fangoria Radio. He has also appeared at Horror events in Germany, Holland and the United Kingdom.
Ari has also composed, performed and recorded a number of soundtracks for independent films, including Alexia Anastasio’s critically acclaimed all-female “SALOME”, and VAMP FILMS “VAMPIRA THE MOVIE” which received the Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Award for the Best Independent Film of 2007.

THE HANDWRITING IS ON THE WALL…

Los Angeles, CA– January 23, 2012– Jack the Ripper! The chilling phrase is recognized by billions, yet his true identity remains one of today’s greatest unsolved mysteries. Now the mystery may be solved, proven by both direct scientific evidence and thorough investigations made by Jeff Mudgett, the great, great grandson of infamous serial killer H.H. Holmes and author of Bloodstains. Newly released forensic evidence shows that the handwriting of the famous Ripper letters were a match with Holmes’ handwriting on his letters from prison. The obvious similarity of the two specimens is remarkable, even to the untrained eye.
Herman Webster Mudgett, better known under the alias of Dr. H.H. Holmes, was the first documented American serial killer in the modern sense of the term. In approximately 1892,Chicago, just in time for The World’s Fair, Holmes opened a hotel (later dubbedMurderCastle) which he had designed and built for himself specifically with murder in mind. While he confessed to 27 murders, his actual body count was probably much higher than 200.
While researching Holmes’ story, Mudgett became increasingly aware of the possibility that Holmes could be Jack the Ripper. He was also aware how difficult it would be to prove, considering the lack of evidence, amidst the constant barrage of Jack the Ripper hoaxes. After Bloodstains was published in 2011, Mudgett was visited by one of his readers who had also contented that the men were one in the same. The reader’s forensic evidence, though largely circumstantial, was astounding. He had submitted handwriting evidence to the renowned British Library, who after their own review, recommended Ms. Margaret Webb for a professional expert opinion in order to determine if the two works had been done by the same hand. This past July, Ms. Webb returned her conclusion that both were absolutely from the same hand, and that Holmes was the author of the Ripper letters. However, when her opinion was released to the world, as well as another expert’s similar opinion, Ms. Webb’s conclusion was lambasted, largely because she was also a graphologist and not solely a ”handwriting expert,” despite the British Library’s respect and admiration. In researching the difference between the two occupations, Jeff Mudgett, an attorney by trade, came across the United States Supreme Court’s Daubert decision which ruled expert testimony concerning handwriting would no longer be admissible unless it rested on a reliable foundation and was generated from scientific knowledge.
Because of this landmark decision, the U.S. Post Office and Department of Justice hired a mathematic and scientific firm at theUniversityofBuffaloto create a computer program to differentiate the millions of styles of handwriting. Led by Dr. Sargur Srihari and Dr. Venu Govindaraju, the Cedar-Fox program was created. When activated, the new program, if given substantial documents, was getting it right 96% of the time, an unheard of number (and 80% right when comparing mere words). ABC News ran segments about this new breakthrough in forensic science and trial evidence.
Mudgett contacted these experts, scientists at the Universityof Buffalo, who agreed to donate their services in the interests of history after learning the cause. The conclusion reached by these scientists was that the classifier performance number, (97.95%) “can be taken to indicate the JTR and Mudgett classes are similar in style.” To understand this number, consider that if two of your own documents were compared, the number would not reach 100%. The scientists further discussed difficulties with the historical (age) and cursive rather than character nature of the documents and requested more samples to enable them to give a more firm, confident conclusion. In non-scientific terms, this means, ’there is no doubt, we just need more testing before sticking our necks out to the entire world and history.’ More samples were sent immediately. Additional data is forthcoming. Scotland Yard has also been notified of the results.
Therefore, by scientific evidence, as required by the U.S. Supreme Court, Holmes was the author of the Ripper letters, and in the author’s legal opinion, Jack the Ripper.
Jeff Mudgett is available for interviews.

BLOOD JUNKIE Reviewed by Norville Rogers, Esq. for SpookSpookShowEntertainment.com
Blood Junkie starts off with a bum seeking refuge in an abandoned chemical factory where he is quickly dispatched by our My Bloody Valentine-esque gas-masked killer. The movie continues with a group of teenagers who decide to go camping for the weekend in the woods where the same chemical factory is rotting away. Sound like your typical slasher storyline? Perhaps. And the intro production logo from Troma touts a level of impending disappointment (at least from this horror fan), but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of enjoyment I received from Blood Junkie.
Quite frankly (I don’t like to bullshit when it comes to indie horror), the movie is typical in most any way a low budget horror film is; sub par acting, crappy FX, lack of production design, etc. But the filmmakers decided to put a twist on the story by having it take place in the early 1980’s, which is what initially drew my attention. Visually, the movie is shot to look like an 80’s film (and was most likely shot on old school video) and the costuming and props were spot on. These people reminded me of the dorks and dweebs (yeah, I pulled those terms out of the history books) that used to babysit me in the early 80’s and the kid in the flick wore the same pair of glasses I had as a child. The movie was very successful at pulling off the vibe of actually being a movie made in the 80’s – similarly to Ti West’s House of the Devil, but in a more “direct to video cassette” way.
The dialogue was funny at times and the characters were likable despite all being relatively two-dimensional and comical, not dramatic in any sense. The chemical factory was an AWESOME set and the filmmakers did the most with a location that had no obvious source of power. And for a Troma release, it definitely had more positive attributes than a typical movie made/distributed by these schlock-masters.
Ultimately, I do recommend Blood Junkie to any avid horror fan, especially those of you who really enjoy the campy 80’s flicks of yesterday. But remember that this recommendation stems from an understanding that the movie was intentionally meant to be cheesy. If you go into this movie looking for a good time while drinking a few beers, you will not be disappointed. I do want to say however that the only real downside to the movie was the video transfer on theDVD I watched. It may have just been my particular disc, but the video would lag and then go back to normal and then lag again. It got to be pretty annoying and I’d hoped it would get better, but it did not. If the filmmakers did this intentionally – perhaps to make the video look more “aged” – I implore them to go back to the editing station and tweak this, NOW!

DeKALB – With Christmas only six days away, Feed’em Soup President Randi Kennedy said she knows there’s no shortage of free meals being offered to those in need.
“It’s a busy time of the year, and everybody wants to give,” she said Sunday, during her organization’s “Holiday Healing Benefit” meal.
On Saturday, Evangelical Free Church in DeKalb also held a free holiday meal, and there are at least three more meals scheduled for the coming week. Sycamore High School donated to Feed’em Soup more than 5,000 items, ranging from food to clothes, for which the group needed to make two trips to collect, Kennedy said.
Sunday’s Feed’em Soup meal wasn’t a solo venture. Normally, the group hosts free community meals from it’s operating base at 122 S. First St. in DeKalb on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.
But for the second consecutive year, Feed’em Soup hosted the Holiday Healing Benefit, organized by Spook Show Entertainment, a DeKalb-based production company that specializes in benefit events.
Kennedy said SSE donated $150 to pay for the meal and brought in local musicians to entertain while people ate. Any money or canned food items donated during the meal and concert benefited Feed’em Soup.
Willy Adkins, president of SSE, said the idea behind the benefit – now in its fourth year – is to gather local musicians, artists and volunteers to give back to their community, as opposed to a national organization.
Five local musicians played while more than 100 people enjoyed an afternoon meal of meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, glazed carrots, scalloped potatoes and peach cobbler.
Afterward, most of the same musicians moved to The House Cafe, at 263 E. Lincoln Highway, to continue the benefit concert until midnight.
Jason Sullivan, vice president of SSE, said after 2010’s benefit show, it was a no-brainer to partner with Feed’em Soup again this year.
“We have the same wants – to give back to the community here,” he said.
He said coming up with the lineup for the benefit also wasn’t difficult for them.
“I think that speaks to the community itself. There’s a good vibe and a good number of people who want to give their time and talent,” he said.
Free meals offered this week
